Community/Parent Survey for Browning Elementary

Dear Browning the Best Community,

I have created a parent survey in order to gather data regarding Browning Elementary.  I will be looking at the results of this data to help me complete a report due to the state of Michigan.  I kindly ask you to take a minute and complete the survey. The survey results will provide information to help me better service the Browning Elementary Community. I will be closing the survey window at 8:00 am on Friday, May 20th.  If you could complete the survey before Friday, I would greatly appreciate it!

 The website address is:  https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGNmemJjZE1xY0hQVDYwZHhqbktSRlE6MQ

Congratulations! Browning the Best Recognized as “Green School” for the 2nd year in a row!!

A special thanks to Recycling Club, Ms. Westman, & Mrs. Friedrich for working with the students and staff to help acheive Green School status again this year!

Staff Appreciation Week

Dear Browning the Best Families & PTA,

Thank you so much for making our staff appreciation week so special for everyone here at Browning. The banner, letters, cards, surprises each day and endless yummy treats made us feel so loved and appreciated. I can tell that everyone went above and beyond to make every day a special one and your hard work and thoughtfulness does not go unnoticed. It is parents like all of you who make the school and home partnership a strong and vibrant one! Words can’t even express my gratitude for all of the effort and planning that went into making this week such a dynamic one–you certainly filled our buckets! Our staff and students are blessed to have such a wonderful supportive parent group. Simply put, Browning is the best and we have the best parents, too!

 Much thanks and hugs,

 Mrs. Trish Hassell, Principal

“The Secret Zoo” Author spent day with Browning students on March 18th!

SECRET ZOO hc c

In celebration of “March is Reading Month,” the PTA invited Author Bryan Chick to discuss his story with students.  We were delighted he spent the day at Browning on March 18!  Bryan shared his experience of writing The Secret Zoo as well as his latest release Secrets & Shadows.  Interestingly, the idea of The Secret Zoo came to Bryan when he was just nine years old! He wondered what it would be like if zoo exhibits had secret passages that allowed kids to get in and animals to get out.  For more information, click on www.thesecretzoo.com.

The success of an author visit is largely dependent on the students’ familiarity with the author’s work.  To assist with this, Bryan’s publisher (Harper Collins) graciously donated several copies of The Secret Zoo to the school media center.  If you haven’t already read his books, cuddle up and enjoy these wonderful stories together!

To order personalized/autographed copy of The Secret Zoo &/or Secrets & Shadows, please return this completed form & payment no later than Thursday, April 1st.

ADVENTURES IN ART Presenters Desperately Needed!

We are delighted to have Mrs. Vaishali Mahimkar back as Browning’s “Adventures in Art” Coordinator again this year.  This PTA sponsored, nationally endorsed volunteer program helps bring art into the classroom.

Each year, adult volunteers present an artist or type of art to as many classrooms that they can.  It takes only about 30 minutes per class to talk with the students about the chosen subject. At the end of the school year, the students select their favorite print.  It is purchased, framed, and hung on the walls at school compliments of the PTA for all to enjoy.  A lot of the artwork that is currently displayed throughout Browning are prints chosen by students from previous years.

Many, many volunteers are needed!!!!  If you or a family member (grandparent, high school or college student, etc) would like to volunteer or receive more information, please send in a note to the Browning office (Attn: PTA Adventures in Art Chairperson) or contact Mrs. Mahimkar at [email protected]. This fun art enrichment program benefits our students and, ultimately, you as well!

As always, your support is greatly appreciated!

MANY THANKS TO OUR BROWNING SUPPORTERS!
