Feb. 4th BINGO Event Cancelled

Unfortunately, the BINGO Event scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4th has been cancelled.  We apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause.  We know many families enjoyed last year’s event & were looking forward to it.

For those who sent in reservation forms/deposits, be assured they will be returned to you ASAP.   Any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact any of the PTA Board members.

VG’s grocery store – Friendly Reminder

When shopping at a VG’s grocery store, please remember to provide receipts or copies to our school. They can be placed in the box located on the PTA table outside of the office or have your child give to their teacher. VG’s will pay our school 1% of total grocery purchases (excluding tax, tobacco and alcohol).

We appreciate the opportunity when a local business is willing to show community support by giving back to our school when you shop at VG’s.

Every little bit makes a difference for our children at “Browning the Best”.

Thank you for your support and participation!

Requests for PTA Funding

Requests for funding must be provided to PTA at least 7 days before a scheduled meeting (submit online via PTA Website or written request.)  Requests will be included in agenda & made available for member review (via email & website.) This will allow any interested parties to attend the meeting & voice their opinion/vote. If request is not received 7 days prior to meeting, request can be discussed during the meeting but will be tabled until the next meeting to ensure that all interested/affected parties have an opportunity to weigh in.

We are confident that this policy will encourage member (parents & staff) input and will help ensure that PTA funded projects address our student’s educational needs and enhance their learning environment.  Any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

As always, your support is greatly appreciated!

2010 Family Literacy Night – Sponsored by the Browning Elementary PTA

Thanks to everyone who participated in Browning’s Family Literacy Night on Thursday, March 11th for a celebration of reading!

Students enjoyed selecting books from the awesome “book garden” book exchange where families/students “planted” their gently used book and “picked” one to take home, wonderful book themed snacks, planting seeds in biodegradable pots, making their own sunflower reading charts, and listening to our guest readers & local author Noi Reineke.  3rd Grade families were entertained by their budding poets & commercial super-stars.

In order to offer this FREE event, we needed a great planning team & volunteers.  Wow!  They were all amazing!  We greatly appreciate their time, creativity, & talents.  Without them,  Family Literacy Night would not have been possible

All proceeds from the Book Fair benefited the Browning Research Center.

Let’s Make the Most of 2010!

It’s a new year – a time of fresh experiences and beginnings.   We hope that everyone enjoyed a joyous holiday season!  The following are just a few ways you can  help ensure the rest of this school year is the best yet!

  • January 23 - NATIONAL HANDWRITING DAY:  In this age of texting & typing, please encourage your child to reaquaint themselves with using the “old fashioned” pen or pencil & practice their “John Hancocks” on Jan. 23rd for National Handwriting Day!  On this date, John Hancock (one of our founding fathers) signed our nation’s Constitution.
  • February 11 – GO GREEN NIGHT:  Protecting the environment has always been important and has gained a lot of attention lately, but how much do our kids know about it?  From turning off the water when brushing your teeth to sending emails instead of newsletters, there are many ways we can all do our part to help the environment.  Please join us on February 11th from 6:30-8PM for a family fun event to help show us all the importance of the 3 R’s:  REDUCE, REUSE, & RECYCLE!
  • March 11th – FAMILY READING NIGHT:  Please join us from 6:30-8PM for a celebration of reading!  Research validates that children who read at home do better in school & are more likely to do succeed academically when their parents are involved in their school.  We hope to set the scene for a Family Reading night like no other for all!

As always, these events would not be possible without our amazing volunteers!

Best Regards,

YOUR BROWNING PTA
