Town Hall Meetings with Senator Michael Switalski

Senator Michael Switalski (10th District) will be holding two town hall forums on the state budget. He will be discussing the latest developments on the state budget, including cuts to the Promise Scholarships, K-12 Schools and 20J Districts, Revenue Sharing, and potential reductions to the state’s film tax credit. He will also address revenue options including tax expenditures and income, business, and sales tax reforms. Besides these items, he has indicated that he welcomes the opportunity to discuss any other issues or concerns that attendees want to talk about. Dress is casual and the discussion will be freewheeling. Feel free to invite anyone else that might want to attend and express their views. Think of it as quality time at the barbershop. We hope to you see you there. For more information, please contact his district office at (586) 294-0925.

Picture Lady Program

We are delighted to have Mrs. Vaishali Mahimkar as Browning’s Picture Lady Coordinator.  The Picture Lady is a PTA sponsored, nationally endorsed volunteer program which brings art into the classroom.  Each year, adult volunteers present an artist or type of art to as many classrooms that they can.  After the initial set-up, it takes only about 30 minutes per class to talk with the students about the chosen subject.  At the end of the school year, the students are then asked to vote for their favorite print and then that print is purchased, framed, and hung on the school wall.  Many of the artwork that is currently displayed throughout Browning are Picture Lady Prints chosen by students.

To volunteer (you do NOT need to be a woman) or for more information, please send in a note to the Browning office, Attn: PTA Picture Lady.  This fun art enrichment program benefits our students and, ultimately, you as well!

TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

One of our highest priorities as a community is our children and their education.  Supporting your PTA is just one way you can help our students, staff, and school succeed.  We have a lot of fun and educational activities planned this year to supplement the classroom environment.

  • Field Trips/On-Site Learning Opportunities
  • Bring Your Family To School Week Events
  • March  is Reading Month/Book Swap
  • Accelerated Reader Program
  • Muffins with Mom/Donuts with Dad
  • Picture Lady Program

By sharing ideas about activities, events, and opportunities that benefit our children, we can strengthen the connections between our students, parents, staff, and the community.  If you are interested in volunteering, chairing an event, &/or have an idea to share, please contact a Board member, e-mail us, or attend our next PTA meeting on Tues., Nov 10th at 7PM in the Media Center.
